"If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong" -- Feynman

United Press International headline: "Pacific Ocean responsible for global warming slowdown."

"If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong" -- Richard Feynman.

The sub-headline reads:
"It’s the ocean hiding the heat, which would normally warm the surface," climatologist Ka-Kit Tung explained.
Um, yes.

That's not science.

From UPI:
PRINCETON, N.J., April 14 (UPI) -- The climate is warming. Temperatures have been rising significantly over the last half-century. But over the last 15 to 20 years, temperatures haven't been rising as fast as climate models suggest they should have. Scientists have been calling the discrepancy "the slowdown."
That's because the theory is wrong. "If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong" -- Feynman.

There is no climate change debate. There is no climate change denial. That's because there is no climate change.

The atmospheric level of carbon dioxide peaked at 401 parts per million in Hawaii last May. That is 27% higher than the peak at the same spot in 1958.

Temperatures are the same -- when one considers the margin of error for temperature gauges.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide is not killing the planet.

Pseudo science is.

Consider this next paragraph in the UPI report: "New research by climatologists at NOAA claims to offer a definitive explanation for the so-called slowdown. According to a new study, published this week in the Journal of Climate, strong trade winds have been pushing heat deep into the Pacific Ocean."

Winds penetrate ocean waters?

These people are so obsessed with their quackery that they are trying to rescind the laws of physics that get in their way.

Sort of like liberals with the law and the Constitution.

  1. Climate science, the Indiana Jones way: Making it up as they go.

  2. Wait. Tsunami. Tsunami push the heat deep into the oceans. Wait, in a tsunami the whole water column is in motion but it isn't breaking or rolling or mixing except near the surface.

Wait, I know, ice, no. I got it, Kraken is pushing heat deep into the ocean.

  3. Remember that last year they said the Polar Vortex was caused by warming at the North Pole. Really. They believe that. The North Pole got warm and the US got cold. And we're the science deniers?

  4. If it doesn't agree with experiment it's wrong -

  5. When I am President I'll fire everyone at NOAA along with several other federal agencies.

  6. "It’s the ocean hiding the heat, which would normally warm the surface," climatologist Ka-Kit Tung explained.

AHA!! A dastardly denier conspiracy! Who knew that the heat capacity of water would turn out to be a criminal activity?

I blame the Koch brothers for the laws of physics running contrary to Most Sacred And Holy Settled Science.

  7. If the physics in the climate models were complete, correct, and believable, it would have included this effect and thus predicted a long standstill in global temperatures, and there would consequently be no controversy raised over making such claims. That the models are deficient in such an important way means that nothing they predict can be believed For if the models are incomplete in this significant way, in how many other ways are they also either incomplete or wrong? Any scientist who plays the modeling game knows none of the work is finished until the fat lady sings...and we aren't anywhere near the end of the opera for her aria.

  8. None of these guys even try to explain how this heat could possible travel to the deep ocean without warming anything else. Impossible.

  9. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn...

And that explains everything you need to know about the ocean and it's role in global warming. God help us!
