Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey said we have to “find the right balance” on gun rights. Silly me, I though we already found “the right balance” and called it The Second Amendment.
But I thank him for reminding me that we balance rights in this country. How about “the right balance” on abortion, in which we protect the child's right to life as well as the mother's right to kill her baby in the womb?
How about “the right balance” on religion, in which we do not establish a state religion of atheism any more than we establish one of God?
How about “the right balance” on satire, in which it is just as OK to mock Mohammad as it is to mock Christ?
How about “the right balance” on race, in which the racist rants of Al Sharpton are as shunned as the ones from David Duke?
How about “the right balance” on rape, in which a false accuser faces perjury charges?
I could go on. But I won't. Governor Christie was pandering to lefties when he told The Record in New Jersey: “We’ve got to make sure we have public safety, but on the other hand we have to protect people’s rights both as sportsmen and hunters and for self protection too, find the right balance.”
He's a fool. He should go back to hugging Barack Obama. It is more honest.
