But black-Hispanic relations and black-Asian relations do exist and do need some discussion because they are strained. Radio's Laura Ingraham touched on this with an interview with Bob Ross, president of the NAACP's chapter in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
From her blog:
Ingraham: The cost of educating a student in Maryland-- per pupil in the public schools--it costs $24,723. During the last 15-month period, 2,804 illegal immigrant kids were dispersed across Maryland. Almost $68 million was spent on illegal immigrants’ education in Maryland. What is your reaction to that?
Ross: I don’t know how we’re going to handle this, the cost factor.
Ingraham: Why isn’t the national NAACP not kicking up a huge public fuss on this amnesty push by the president?
Ross: "I can’t speak for the national. Each local organization has its own charter, and this is a local issue. We’re fighting it based on our demographics, but we’re going to need a lot of support. We need to stand up for what’s right. We’re not going to the back of the bus again, we’ve already gone that route."
Ingraham: Do you think these kids should be sent back home, or should they just be educated in all these communities, despite the cost?
Ross: Our kids have dreams too. I want to be real clear about that. They keep talking about the DREAMers, DREAMers, DREAMers. We have dreams also. Every child that is native-born out there has a dream. We should not have to sacrifice for newcomers who have come in and not followed the process. It is not a matter of going to the back of the bus again.
It is a matter of being thrown under the bus.
Under President Obama, black unemployment has risen while Hispanic employment is the fastest growing demographic. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has doubled in the last six years.
I doubt that many black people will hold him accountable for the economic hardship they have suffered since his inauguration six years ago. Too many black people identify with him as president. They have too much invested in the First Black President to acknowledge his shortcomings. It's always the fault of the Republicans, or the Tea Party, or the Ku Klux Klan, or the monster under the bed.
Barack Obama will leave a mess of immigration just as he is leaving a mess of health insurance. Worse, he's made a mess of race relations. Democrats think this is to their advantage. We shall see.
