Rolling Stone tries to UVa Scott Walker

From the magazine that gave you the false story that a fraternity gang-raped a co-ed at the University of Virginia comes: "Scott Walker, God's Gift to the Democratic Party. Walker's ISIS comments might help him in the short term, but in the end his Party will suffer."

Hahaha.

Apparently Jann Wenner and company think Americans are all a bunch of bi-coastal liberals who want the Islamic State to take over Arabia -- and maybe the rest of the world too.

Ted Cruz has the Sabo Poster (created by an artist who calls himself Sabo).

Asian Americans fight against racial discrimination

Socialists and communists are the biggest racists in the world. They see no one as an individual except themselves. Everyone else is categorized by their sex (women over men), sexual orientation (gay over bi over straight) religion (atheist over Muslim over Buddhist over mainstream Protestant over evangelicals over Catholics over Jews), and of course race (black over Hispanic over white over Asian).

It is that last racial group that is rebelling against the racial quotas in colleges. Harvard and other elitist colleges face lawsuits over there bigotry in undergraduate admissions.

And now an academy in California is teaching Asian-Americans how to fight the prejudice.

"If we can do it in Wisconsin, we can do it across America"

Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin has been a favorite of conservative bloggers since he took office. the Washington press corps discovered him this month after pretending Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, or any other senator has a hound's tooth chance in Hades of grabbing the Republican nomination next year.

Liz Peek of the Fiscal Times said Walker has delivered the final kick to the curb of Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, writing: "Both Republicans are blue-state governors who inherited and tackled sizable budget deficits by rolling back the power of public employee unions. Unfortunately for Christie, New Jersey’s finances are once again in crisis, and it could get ugly."

Walker's appearance on Thursday at CPAC's annual get-together in Washington, though, shows the fire's been lit.

You know, the one Democratic Senator John Kerry voted for.

Alas, TPM never pointed that out.

By the way, that was one of the few votes John Kerry got right.

Oh and the reason for that is Saddam Hussein was sending suicide bombers to Jerusalem to kill Israelis. Keeping the Israelis from retaliating was one of the tougher jobs of Secretary of State Colin Powell in the early stages of the war.

Settled science

From the Wall Street Journal:
A diet that includes peanuts in the first year of life may greatly reduce the chance of developing peanut allergies in children at risk for getting them, according to a highly anticipated new study.
The findings appear to be the most definitive evidence yet to discount the medical community’s longtime recommendation that parents avoid giving peanut products to young children. That practice has failed to stem the growing rate of peanut allergies. Some doctors now suggest that not eating peanuts may actually have helped spur more allergies.
“We have had a whole ethos within the practice of pediatrics and pediatric allergy that the way to avoid any allergy was avoidance,” said Gideon Lack, a professor of pediatric allergy at King’s College London and senior author of the study, which was published online Monday in the New England Journal of Medicine. “At least with respect to peanuts, avoidance may actually worsen the problem.”
Does this mean the 99% of the kids who are not allergic can now bring their peanut butter sandwiches to school?

Jailbait snares counter-terrorism chief

Fairfax County, Virginia, Police arrested Daniel Rosen, 44, the head of the State Department's counter-terrorism efforts, at his home in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday afternoon on charges related to trying to arrange a tryst with a minor, Fox News reported.

“We are aware that a State Department employee has been arrested and charges have been issued,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told the Los Angeles Times. Psaki declined to name the employee or the charges, citing privacy reasons. “His security clearance will be suspended, and he will be put on administrative leave while this proceeds to its end through any judicial process.”

What privacy? It was a public arrest of a public official. We all understand he is innocent until proven guilty. But the fact that the head of our counter-terrorism effort is accused of a pretty heinous crime is news and well, Jen Psaki is supposed to disseminate information to news organizations.

Why people tuned out the Oscars

From Jethro Nededog of The Wrap:
Racial controversy, a tight match between “Birdman” and “Boyhood” and a new host in Neil Patrick Harris just weren’t enough to give ABC’s Oscars telecast a winning ratings boost over last year.
In fact the audience dropped significantly. Pulling in 36.6 million total viewers on Sunday night — 6.4 million fewer that 2014’s 10-year high, according to overnight numbers – the audience represents a six-year low in total viewers for the awards show and a 16 percent drop in viewership.
Actually, the racial controversy, battle for Best Picture between two minor films, and another new host probably dropped the ratings. People want to be entertained. This did not promise to be very entertaining.

Legalize cocaine, ban sugar?

I commented on this on Friday, but let me expand my thoughts on the federal government's new nutritional guidelines. The guidelines are based on the latest studies by dietitians, but those studies are often contradictory over time.

For example, caffeine for a long time was a villain. Now it is OK to drink coffee every morning. Salt, too, was a villain. Now it also has been rehabilitated. Sugar is the villain now.

It's like the old Soviet leaders. Some years Stalin was a hero, some years forgotten, some years a villain.

But mind you who is creating these new rules: Liberals, the same people who want to end the war on drugs.

Sharpton daily show rumored to end

Dozens of viewers may be inconvenienced when MSNBC shuffles Al Sharpton's nightly show to the weekends. After a decade of trying to be the left-wing Fox News, MSNBC is changing its lineup. Rachel Maddow will go head-to-head against Bill O'Reilly. Apparently, Megyn Kelly was too tough a match for Rachel Maddow -- or maybe bosses at MSNBC want an excuse to dump Rachel Maddow's $7 million-a-year salary by switching her hours and costing her audience.

Rolling Out reported:
It is rumored that Sharpton’s show will move from its nightly 6 p.m. time slot to a weekend only show. Sharpton attracts a solid 35 percent Black audience and is considered a lightning rod of controversy because of his activism on behalf of the oppressed. The source at MSNBC stated it was also part of a change in the political mindset of the programming stating, “Going left was a brilliant strategy while it lasted, and made hundreds of millions of dollars for Comcast, but now it doesn’t work anymore…The goal is to move away from left-wing TV.”
There has been no word from the Sharpton camp on the rumored changes at MSNBC.
Going left was a brilliant move? So how come Fox News rolled right and is the No. 1 cable network overall?

Anti-union is the majority, Washington Post

Robert Samuels of the Washington Post went to Wisconsin to focus on Republicaan Governor Scott Walker's "anti-union" work. Robert Samuels glossed over the fact that a Republican legislature passed these measures among very heated and downright repugnant protests that rocked the state capitol four Februarys ago. Public employee unions thought they owned the state.

Still, it is good to take a look at the impact of the successful Republican to end the closed-shop mentality in government offices, even if it is by a union newspaper, because in the 21st century, unions are as passe as newspapers are. Both serve a declining number of older people, but their heyday passed decades ago.

Funding shows Islamic State is mainstream

President Obama insists that the Islamic State terrorists are not Islamic. While certainly, they no more represent all of Islam than the United Church of Christ represents all of Christianity, certainly these barbarians not only are Islamic but they are getting funding from rich Gulf State oil barons (sheik is now considered a racist word), according to the London Independent.

These rich creeps have on their payroll up to 100,000 Islamic State terrorists, according to the newspaper.

The report belies Obama's attempt to marginalize and minimize the enemy. (Am I allowed to call them that?)

Why is Tulsi Gabbard still a Democrat?

Hawaii Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, 33, is a rising star in her party. Born in America Samoa, she enlisted in the Hawaii Army National Guard, she served a 12-month tour in Iraq beginning in July 2004 as a specialist with a 29th Support Battalion medical company. That biography has propelled her into one of the five vice-chairman seats on the Democratic National Committee.

But she now finds herself at odds with President Obama with his refusal to take seriously the threat of the Islamic State. This raises the question: Why is Tulsi Gabbard still a Democrat?

The right to throw rocks at police

Pasco, Washington, police officers shot and killed Antonio Zambrano-Montes, 35, a Mexican migrant worker, after he threw rocks, hitting two officers. Police say he refused to put down his rocks, even after they used a stun gun on him.
Now protesters are calling for more training of police. It's a majority Hispanic town and white officers dominate the police force. Fine. Civilians also need to be trained to obey an officer, especially when he pulls a gun on them.

Democrats: We need Southern whites after all

Having finally lost state legislatures throughout the South in last year's election, after controlling them since Reconstruction, Democrats have decided, oh crap, we need those ignorant racists -- as opposed to the educated ones in the White House.

You see, the dirty little secret was the South stayed Democratic for 30 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It was not until the Gingrich Revolution in 1994 that the Republicans won the majority of southern House and Senate seats for the first time since Rutherford B. Hayes was president.

The state legislatures started flipping after that. Now Democrats realize they are in trouble.

What will Hello Barbie say?

Barbie was invented by Ruth Handler, based on a German toy hooker doll. The Germans are an odd people. Her husband, Elliot Handler, developed the "talking"mechanism. Over the years, their company, Mattel, developed plenty of dolls and talking toys. But when Barbie talked, all hell broke loose. She said, "Math class is tough," and feminists protested.

(The feminist obsession with the Barbie doll is humorous. It takes only 11 inches of plastic to set them off.)

Now Mattel is rolling out Hello Barbie. The doll will have conversations with kids. I wonder what she will say.

I know what it won't say, "Math class is tough."

I read that and instantly thought of Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee. He bailed the RNC out after Michael Steele, an affirmative action pick, blew it. Old Reince may be the key to the nomination.

Lie of the day: 6th warmest winter

To promote the discredited conjecture that carbon dioxide and water vapor are causing the Earth's temperature to run out of control, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration continue to churn out misleading data, and the naive media continue to repeat it. You have to report the pronouncements, but you also have to tell the other side of the story.

Obama's lie of the day

President Obama: "Here in America, Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding. Generations -- (applause) -- Generations of Muslim immigrants came here and went to work as farmers and merchants and factory workers, helped to lay railroads and to build up America. The first Islamic center in New York City was founded in the 1890s. America's first mosque, this was an interesting fact, was in North Dakota."

Reality: Of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independents, 53 were Protestants, 2 were Deists and 1 was Catholic. The first Muslim church (according to Obama) came more than a century later.

Meanwhile, Democratic panties are in a bunch because Rudy Giuliani said what has become obvious in recent months“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America. He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country."

It's the global cooling, stupid

Even as government officials fudge on reporting the global temperatures in an effort to convince the unwitting populace that we are creating a Hell On Earth by driving private automobiles, the world enters another period of cooling.

The evidence is clear. The sun has gone quiet again during the weakest solar cycle in more than a century. Temperatures in the United States are dropping to levels of the 1970s -- when the same "scientists" who insist on global warming hysterically cried global cooling!

Do not panic. This is normal. To every thing, there is a season. This applies to weather in particular.

What is happening follows what was predicted 35 years ago by the physicist who developed the technique of using tree rings to determine temperatures in the past, Leona Woods Marshall Libby.

Spin: And on the 8th day, liberals created Scott Walker

Republican Governor Scott Walker's rise is no surprise to those of us who have paid attention in the blogosphere. Conservative bloggers have ranked him in the Top 10 of their most admired Americans for each of his four years as governor. Only Thomas Sowell ranked in the Top 10 in each of those years.

The press in Washington has finally noticed. They think it is a fluke. Nia-Malika Henderson of the Washington Post wrote, "Scott Walker is a conservative hero, and liberals have themselves to blame for it."

Marie Harf is too nuanced for you dumbasses to understand

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf is getting a little aggravated with You People for not understanding what she meant when she said, “We cannot kill our way out of this war.”

Appearing on Wolf Blitzer's CNN show, Marie Harf said:
“We cannot kill every terrorist around the world, nor should we try. How do you get at the root causes of this? It might be too nuanced an argument for some, like I’ve seen over the last 24 hours some of the commentary out there, but it’s really the smart way that Democrats, Republicans, our partners in the Arab world think we need to combat it.”
I said it yesterday, I say it today, Marie Harf is doing a great job in explaining just exactly what President Obama's war strategy is.

The first headline is on a story on September 30, 2013. The public did indeed blame Republicans -- and 13 months later the public gave Republicans their biggest sweep since 1928 as Republicans flipped the Senate, extended their House lead to the biggest in 86 years, and wound up in control of two-thirds of the state legislative chambers -- including West Virginia's for the first time in 84 years.

How to cut rail oil spills by 70%

An oil spill Monday in West Virginia pushed the National Transportation Safety Board into action. It will investigate. Acting chairman Christopher A. Hart said in a press release:

Judge to Obama: You cannot do that

For six long years, the courts have been deferential to Barack Obama. In upholding the unconstitutional Obamacare, the Supreme Court said meekly, elections have consequences.

Thus we are heartened by U.S. District Andrew Hanen's decision in Texas to stop President Obama from unilaterally destroying immigration law by granting a blanket amnesty to 5 million illegal aliens.

From Think Progress: "The train, owned by CSX Corp., was carrying more than 100 tankers of crude oil from the Bakken shale in North Dakota when it derailed at about 1:30 p.m."

Blame President Obama and his Democratic Party.

Juan Williams on Jon Stewart

For some reason, Rush Limbaugh ran this from a clip on Fox News:
JUAN WILLIAMS: His numbers, in terms of ratings, are not that good. His impact goes beyond the ratings in terms of liberal media. I mean, you start to think about the impact he's had on everybody from Jimmy Fallon to Stephen Colbert and then you saw MSNBC and all the rest. They tried with people like Bill Maher. They tried with Al Franken, now the senator from Minnesota. They could never find somebody to go up against the likes of Rush Limbaugh.
Yep. Been that way for almost 30 years. After a while, it is comforting to know they remain obsessed by him.

Answer: Provide proof

Stuart Shapiro wrote a column in the Hill: "What can tobacco teach us about climate change policy?"

He teaches public policy at Rutgers, not an actual science although he does have a B.S. from Case Tech. In his piece he forwards the long discredited notion that there is a scientific consensus that mankind's use of carbon-based fuels is killing the planet.

His piece unwittingly undermines the case for that contention.

Snow cones legalized in Arizona schools

When he became Arizona's governor a few weeks ago, Republican Doug Ducey put (CORRECTING) Voters put Diane Douglas in charge of the state Department of Education. Last week, she used her authority to protect the local schools from the bullies in Washington -- by issuing blanket waivers for selling snacks to raise money for the schools.

“Forcing parents and other supporters of schools to only offer federally approved food and snacks at fundraisers is a perfect example of the overreach of government and intrusion into local control,” Douglas said. “I have ordered effective immediately that the ADE Health and Nutrition Services division grant exemptions for all fundraisers for both traditional public schools and charter public schools.”

The flap came down to snow cones.

Why Obama doesn't want to win the war

President Obama and his staff have over-intellectualized the Global War On Terrorism to the point of absurdity. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf went on the Chris Matthews show and said: But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups..."

Funny, we never went after the root causes of Nazism. We just killed them.

The White House knows this, which is proof of something the nation has been in denial about for nearly 14 years.

The Left does not want to win this war.

Scoreboard for Washington's Birthday

1. Today's federal holiday is Washington's Birthday. "Presidents Day" would be a participation trophy. Why should we honor the likes of Andrew Johnson? GOOD.

2. Time magazine dragged out Governor Scott Walker's high school science teacher to dump on him. The stereotype of an anti-science Republican is as dumb as saying all science teachers cook meth. EVIL.

It never went away

Washington Post headline: "Get ready for the return of the Global War On Terror."

Michele Bachmann was right on Gardasil

In a Republican presidential debate in September 2011, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota warned about the plan by Texas Governor Rick Perry to require all the schoolgirls who reached puberty to have the Gardasil human papillomavirus vaccine

Bachmann said: "To have innocent little 12-year-old girls be forced to have a government injection through an executive order is just flat-out wrong. Little girls who have a potentially dangerous reaction to this drug don't get a mulligan. You don't get a do-over."

The American Academy of Pediatric denounced her.

But no we know better. Gardasil has been linked to more than 100 deaths and tens of thousands of adverse reactions in women in the United States.

Democrats now pay for the taxes they raised

Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar of the Associated Press has been among the fairest and most informed journalists covering the Obamacare debacle. Fro the beginning, he gave critics a voice as well as reporting the advocate's site.

His latest is masterful:
The official sign-up season for President Barack Obama's health care law may be over, but leading congressional Democrats say millions of Americans facing new tax penalties deserve a second chance.
Three senior House members told The Associated Press that they plan to strongly urge the administration to grant a special sign-up opportunity for uninsured taxpayers who will be facing fines under the law for the first time this year.
As Jeremiah Wright would say, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Illegal aliens are killing California

Two news stories in the Sacramento Bee show why the biggest threat to the nation from within are politicians who think they are smarter than the people.

The first story was a report from the Associated Press: "California's Medi-Cal program for poor grows to 12 million."

One in three Californians is now on the dole for health insurance.

The second story was staff-written: "State’s population growth expected to outstrip water conservation in coming years."

The state's population is expected to grow another 14% in the next 15 years.

What do these two stories have in common? Proposition 187 -- passed by the public 59%-41%, dashed by the politicians. Everything proponents of Prop 187 said would come true has.

Answering Instapundit's question

Gail Collins of the New York Times wrote that Governor Scott Walker was responsible for teacher layoffs in 2010 -- even though he did not become governor until 2011. After the Internet jeered, the Times quietly corrected the big error.

Glenn Reynolds asked: "Have you noticed that the lefty attacks on him seem to rebound on the attackers?"

But of course. That's because his lefty attackers are not just any old lefties, but rather unions, which are run by bullies who are not very smart. Apparently teacher unions are run by the biggest and dumbest bullies.

Remember, unions gave us Barack Obama.

GOOD.

George Walker Bush vindicated

George Walker Bush didn't lie.
Fewer people had to die.

Remember, the death toll in Iraq under Saddam Hussein topped 300,000 Iraqi civilians in his 30-year rein, a number that ties him with Idi Amin. That excludes the 1.3 million military men killed in Saddam Hussein's wars following his invasions of Iran and Kuwait.

The highest estimate of Iraq War deaths were 100,000.

Saddam Hussein also paid people to blow up buses in Israel, making him a terrorist.

But Saddam Hussein's apologists among the Left -- oh hell, his supporters because they hated Bush worse -- said there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Now a dozen years later, the New York Times has admitted the CIA bought "5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs" in Iraq, which were later destroyed

The holiday is George Washington's Birthday

Today we honor a holiday called Washington's Birthday.

"Presidents Day" is an ignorance, uttered by fools, and celebrated by lesser states. It turns the celebration of our first and greatest president into a Participation Trophy. Oh, you were president? Well, here's your day.

Global warming frostbite

Chris Mooney of the Washington Post continued the winter tradition of blaming blizzards on global warming. His post even included the word "counter-intuitive," which is how global warmers try to explain their way out of the corner they painted themselves in.

What did Richard Feynman say?
In general we look for a new law by the following process. First we guess it. Then we compute the consequences of the guess to see what would be implied if this law that we guessed is right. Then we compare the result of the computation to nature, with experiment or experience, compare it directly with observation, to see if it works. If it disagrees with experiment it is wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science. It does not make any difference how beautiful your guess is. It does not make any difference how smart you are, who made the guess, or what his name is – if it disagrees with experiment it is wrong. That is all there is to it.
We were told that global warming would change the climate and end winter. Such luminaries as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said snow would disappear. Winter hasn't ended. The snow piles up. And yet the army of environmental reporters -- lefties all -- continue to push their nonsense.

Oh no, Cinderella is too thin

Today's celebrity nontroversy involves Lily James, 25, who plays the title character in a non-animated Disney production of "Cinderella."

Rossalyn Warren of Buzzfeed declared her waist to be too small, citing tweets, which we all know is a suitable substitute for science. She did so in a piece entitled, "Has Disney Edited Cinderella’s Waist In The New Movie To Appear Smaller? A source at Disney and Lily James’ agent denied that the images were digitally altered in post production to BuzzFeed News. But that hasn’t convinced everyone."

Netanyahu's Islamist State ad has opponents crying

Benjamin Netanyahu threw subtlety away in a new re-election ad that shows Islamist State soldiers asking his for the directions to Jerusalem.

The answer?

“Turn left.”

In response, the left sent a whiny letter to Israel's attorney general asking him to make Bibi play nice.

Welcome to the Tea Party, Bill Maher

So, Bill Maher, how is that Obamacare working out for you? You remember what you said when you celebrated passage of the law in 2010: "I thank the Tea Baggers. They're the ones who got it passed."

You gloated and gloated.

How does it feel now, five years later, when you finally and publicly admit You Were Wrong?

Obama parties with welfare billionaire

Andria Borba of KPIX reported: "During his visit to the Bay Area, President Barack Obama spent a night on the town Friday, raising money and enjoying dinner in Presidio Heights with Tesla CEO Elon Musk."

Wonder if Musk was hitting Obama up for more corporate welfare, or if Obama was lining up a post-presidential no-show job. Probably both.

Musk built an empire on getting tax breaks, cheap loans and outright subsidies by following the latest bauble to bedazzle the political mind. Electric cars! Solar panels! Space exploration!

Jindal: “Democracy is messy”

As he begins openly running for president, Republican Governor Bobby Jindal is taking on the Republican Establishment -- particularly the Republican National Committee's attempt to limit and control the debates. Reince Priebus -- who worked with Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin -- chairs the committee.

It's part of an effort on his part to distinguish himself among the various candidates running. Governor Walker and Jeb Bush are in the lead.

Blasphemy debate ends in killing

A debate on blasphemy at the Krudttønden Cafe in Copenhagen between François Zimeray, the French ambassador to Denmark, and Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, ended with a terrorist opening fire at the meeting. The gunman killed a civilian and wounded three police officers, but the debaters were OK.

The shooting comes despite strict gun laws in Denmark -- and despite bending over backward to accommodate Muslim immigrants and converts.

And by despite, I mean because.

Obamacare Surprise No. 470

Last year, Janice Riddle lost her job and got Obamacare for a monthly premium of $1. Taxpayers paid the rest of the $470 a month to cover her.

But then she found a new job and has discovered that now that she's a taxpayer she has to pay back the subsidies. You see, she should have dropped Obamacare when she found a new job.

Janice Riddle told CNN: "I was blindsided that the subsidy has to be paid back. I'm in shock...but I have no choice. Do I want to argue with the IRS or the Obama administration?"

Snow cancels global warming protest

I m always amazed that they schedule global warming publicity stunts in the winter.

From the Yale Daily News:
With the first-ever Global Divestment Day scheduled for this weekend, Fossil Free Yale looks to revive the campus push for divestment. But it remains unclear if, and when, their efforts will come to fruition.
In fact, the event, which was meant to be held on Saturday, has been postponed indefinitely. FFY Project Manager Mitch Barrows ’16 said the delay is due to unfavorable weather conditions and other logistical issues, including some cancellations from speakers and performance groups. The postponement was made final as of Thursday evening.
On Thursday morning, 40 students from Divest Harvard, Harvard’s own divestment group, staged a sit-in in the building holding the office of Harvard President Drew Faust, beginning at around 10 a.m., according to the Harvard Crimson.
If they want to stop using fossils, they can turn off the heat. Oil heats 23% of the homes in New England -- compared to 5% across the country.

And in a related story, from Reuters: "Following a series of record-setting snowfalls, New England on Friday got a new metric for how severe its winter has been: The town of Alton, New Hampshire called off its annual ice carnival due to a forecast calling for more snow and brutal cold."

Archbishop apologizes to Nazis

I have the perfect post-presidential job for Barack Obama: Archbishop of Canterbury. The job is a safe resting place for anti-Western theologians. Over the years, I have come to see King Henry II's side in his battle with Thomas Becket.

The latest Archbishop of Canterbury is Justin Welby. He decided to apologize to the Nazis for returning fire in World War II.

The London Daily Mail reported:
The Archbishop of Canterbury last night issued an extraordinary apology for the British bombing of Dresden during the Second World War.
In what was immediately criticised as an insult to the young men who gave their lives to defeat the Nazis, the Most Rev Justin Welby told the German people of his ‘profound feeling of regret and deep sorrow’ over the attack.
His comments at a ceremony in Dresden to mark the 70th anniversary of the bombings came amid a growing row about BBC coverage of the commemoration in which Britain was described as ‘worse than the Nazis’ over the raids that killed thousands at the end of the war.
Former defence minister Sir Gerald Howarth criticised the Archbishop, saying: ‘I do not hear Angela Merkel apologising for the Blitz.’ And historian Professor Anthony Glees said it was wrong to take a single incident in the war and say sorry for it. Archbishop Welby said the bombing of Dresden, which killed an estimated 25,000, ‘diminished all our humanity’.
For decades, lefties have raised Dresden higher than the Holocaust. Apparently they convinced themselves Dresden was not a military target.

All of Germany became a military target on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland.

Cornell-acare

Cornell University President David Skorton announced a new program for next year: “Effective next academic year, 2015-16, we will be introducing a student health fee for those not enrolled in the Cornell Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). As a physician, parent and president, I am proud of our university's long history of providing quality medical, mental health, education and prevention services on campus. These essential services play a critical role in student well-being and, therefore, success. Yet funding these services — and creating access to them for all students — has been a growing fiscal challenge, and a personal concern of mine.”

Here's an idea about funding these services through that $5 billion tax-exempt endowment Cornell is sitting on? It works out to more than a quarter-million per student.

(Why are we not taxing these billions of dollars that are not being used for education?)

But no, Cornell will fund this by making students either take the university's insurance for $2,352 a year or pay $350 to not take the insurance.

From Fox News:
The announcement sent students into a fervor, leading to a series of rallies on campus and hashtag activism, with #FightTheFee trending on the social media website.
Finally, college students have realized that they are being used by the tax-exempt higher-education industry.

But instead of the lame hashtags, go for the throat. Contact donors and alumni, and point out their donations are not funding anything.

Fight the power!

Mountaintop Removal for Wind Power

Environmentalists make a big deal about surface mining in West Virginia, which they succeeded in re-casting as mountaintop removal.

In Vermont, the enviros are whacking off the tops of  mountains to clear it for wind turbines.

Some environmentalists are complaining about Green Mountain Power and other Big Wind companies topping mountains.

From Mark Whitworth, owner of Energize Vermont:
“The claims Green Mountain Power makes for Lowell’s carbon avoidance are inflated. They claim that the wind turbine complex avoids 74,000 tons of carbon a year. That may sound like a lot, but it’s equivalent to the amount of carbon emitted by New York City traffic in less than half a day.
“The turbines are projected to last 20 years. … The amount of carbon (Lowell would avoid) is less than two weeks of carbon produced by New York City traffic. We traded an intact ecosystem, a vital wildlife habitat, for less than two weeks of New York City carbon emissions. It’s not a good trade.”
One nice thing, we finally got an enviro to admit that all this alternative energy nonsense barely amounts to a hill of beans.

And that hill is being flattened anyway.

Yemen reveals Obama's ISIS strategy

Last fall, President Obama said, "This counterterrorism campaign will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out [the Islamic State] wherever they exist, using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground. This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years."

This week, the Marines bugged out of Yemen, and issued a statement clarifying their departure:
"The Marine Security Force left the American embassy in Yemen for the movement to the airfield as part of the 'ordered departure' with only personal weapons. All crew served weapons were destroyed at the embassy prior to movement. None of them were 'handed over' in any way to anyone. The destruction of weapons at the embassy and the airport was carried out in accordance with an approved destruction plan.
"Upon arrival at the airfield, all personal weapons were rendered inoperable in accordance with advance planning. Specifically, each bolt was removed from its weapons body and rendered inoperable by smashing with sledgehammers. The weapons bodies, minus the bolts, were then separately smashed with sledgehammers. All of these destroyed components were left at the airport -- and components were scattered; no usable weapon was taken from any Marine at Sana'a airport.
"To be clear: No Marine handed a weapon to a Houthi, or had one taken from him."
I'm curious as to why the Marines destroyed their weapons.

But President Obama has a clear policy in the Global War On Terrorism: Do the minimum, pretend there is no threat, look cool, and if something good happens, take full credit for it.

Carly Fiorina shocks Time magazine

Having survived breast cancer, the humiliation of a very public firing as a CEO of Hewlett-Packard, and the John McCain for President campaign, Carly Fiorina is testing the waters for a run for president next year, or governor of California in 2018.

She spoke at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce forum and drew a Time magazine story for saying, “I think the core of conservative philosophy is that every one of us is equal. Every one of us has God-given gifts. No one of us is better than any other one of us.”

I know: Well, duh.

But this is news to Time magazine.

GOOD.

This year's Antarctic ice rescue story

In December 2013, University of New South Wales climate scientist Chris Turney took tourists and scientists to Antarctica to show off global warming. All went well until ice formed and trapped the global warming tourists and scientists. Crews from the United States and China had to rescue the global warmers from the ice. It took weeks.

That was last winter (which is summer in Antarctica). This winter a 207-foot fishing boat from Australia is stuck in the ice.

The Telegraph reported:
The US Coast Guard said the icebreaker Polar Star has diverted to rescue the Australian vessel and break through the ice. The Polar Star was some 300 nautical miles away and was due to reach the stranded vessel by Friday or Saturday. It will need to cut through thick ice floes and heavy snow and winds up to 35 miles per hour.
"The considerable geographic distances and extreme environmental conditions make this a complex rescue mission," said Captain Matthew Walker, commanding officer of the Polar Star.
A New Zealand fishing vessel, The Janus, is also headed to the area and will assist with towing.
Whenever reality shows the global warming conjecture to be false, the true believers bleat: It's Weather, Not Climate. Expect lots and lots and lots of weather over the next 25 years as the warming-cooling cycle is back to cooling -- as was predicted 35 years ago.

Federal charges filed in Ferguson

Federal charges finally are filed in Ferguson, Missouri -- against the rioters.

From Fox News:
A federal grand jury indicted Antonio Whiteside, 26, charging him with the arson of the Ferguson Market, the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in St. Louis said.
Setting stores on fire as a protest is apparently against the law. Go figure.

Does that mean looting is illegal as well?

Feminist Muslim

Leave it to feminist hunter Robert Stacy McCain to find the Feminist Muslim. The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one. She posted this on Tumbler: “I’m so tired of masculinity. And male aggression. And male voyeurism. And male arrogance. And male mediocrity. And how we’re conditioned to normalize it.”

Robert Stacy McCain wrote: “What inspired that declaration? That 24-word anti-male outburst was published on Tumblr a week ago and has already acquired more than 3,000 likes or reblogs. The young woman who posted it is the child of Eritrean refugees, living in Southern California, and has absorbed from her American education many typical progressive attitudes inculcated by our public school system. She is a Muslim, and does not seem to recognize (or at least does not acknowledge) that the anti-male attitudes of her feminism are fundamentally incompatible with Islam.”

Her name is Zuriya. She is a Muslim in the largest Christian nation in the world. She is trying to assimilate. Unfortunately, she selected the crazies as her role model.

Just remember, Jesus said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Mohammad gave instruction on the proper stone to use.

Environmentalists oppose dumping snow in the sea

Boston turned into Buffalo this winter, receiving a record amount of snow in January.

Oddly enough, George Bachrach, president of the Environmental League of Massachusetts, ordinarily opposes dumping the snow from the streets in Boston Harbor because there might be a trace of oil in it. But he relented: “Dumping snow into Boston Harbor should only be a last resort. However, we may have reached that point, with no other alternatives. Clearing the streets and public safety is always the highest priority.”

That is big of him.

This is reminiscent of Seattle banning salt in snow removal because the salty might contaminate the sea. Superstition is amusing, isn't it?

By the way, we know why all that snow is falling. Payback for the Patriots deflating those footballs, right?

Congress may ban federal employees watching porn at work

Let's hear it for the EPA -- the Eliminating Pornography from Agencies Act, which would make it illegal for federal government employees to view porn at work. Republican Congressman Mark Meadows of North Carolina introduced the bill.

The name is fitting because of its acronym because they watch a lot of porn at the Environmental Protection Agency.

"One EPA employee was viewing as much as 6 hours of pornography a day in his office," Congressman Meadows told Federal News Radio. "The same federal employee was found to have downloaded as many as 7,000 pornographic files onto his government computer."

That Inspector's General report on porn watching came out a few years ago. Shame on the rest of Congress for not banning porn at work years ago. But here's a thought, keep the porn and ban the EPA. Obviously, that agency is overstaffed -- and frankly, outdated.

GOOD.

Wait, there was a reason to ban pot?

Every college graduate in the last 35 years "knows" the anti-marijuana laws were racist to keep Mexicans from picking our fruit in the 1930s when we needed the job. Just ask the Huffington Post. We were told pot is safer than alcohol. We were told "Reefer Madness" hysteria was concocted by a cabal of Big Tobacco, Big Alcohol, the Ku Klux Klan, and that neighbor down the street who never let you retrieve your ball when you hit it in his yard.

From the London Daily Mail: "Smoking cannabis can lead to manic behavior: Hyperactivity, aggression and delusion are all strongly linked with the drug, researchers warn."

Planned Parenthood's Battle of New Orleans

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals denied an application by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast to open its first abortion clinic in that state, in New Orleans. The tax-exempt chain of abortion clinics announced yesterday it will file an appeal.

“The decision was arbitrary and capricious,” Planned Parenthood lawyer Roger Evans told the Baton Rouge Advocate. “There was no basis for denying it.”

Actually, there was a reason. New Orleans already has two abortion clinics. But the Wal-Mart of abortion wants to muscle in on that territory.

Boehner: Get off your ass, Democrats

A fired-up Speaker of the House John Boehner is unhappy being left holding the bag by senators on Homeland Security. On Wednesday, he told reporters: “The House has done its job! Why don’t you go ask the Senate Democrats when they’re going to get off their ass and do something?”

And this: “The House did its job. We won the fight to fund the Department of Homeland Security and to stop the president’s unconstitutional actions. Now it’s time for the Senate to do their work.”

He speaks for a Republican Caucus that ain't happy. From the Hill:
Time and again, Republican members trickling out of the Wednesday morning conference meeting stubbornly repeated some variation of Boehner’s new favorite line. During the meeting, members heard from two former House colleagues who are now in the Senate: Cory Gardner of Colorado and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia.
But instead of Gardner and Capito quelling the insistence the Senate act, the two freshman senators got an earful for not doing enough.
When it was Bob Byrd going after President Bush, the press would be all over the president. Instead this battle is rayyyyyyy-cist.

Osteopath may go RINO hunting against John McCain

She's from Fairmont, West Virginia, so you know Kelli Ward has to be good. Now living in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, she is an osteopathic doctor and a Republican in the state Senate. Dr. Ward is considering a run in the U.S. Senate against John McCain, who is in his fifth term despite promising in 2008 not to run for that fifth term in 2010.

And now he wants a sixth term.

Obama's lies show he is unserious about rape

On Sunday, President Obama told the people at One In Five women suffer a rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. Given that American women live to be an average of 80 years, the odds of a woman being raped or attempted to be raped would be 1 in 400 in any given year.

There are 160 million women in America.

Divided by 400, that would mean 400,000 rapes must occur ever year.

Last year, Americans reported less than 80,000 rapes.

Obamacare cuts workers' hours at Staples

Part-time workers at Staples are paying the price for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, according to Business Insider.

The company is cutting back hours to avoid paying a $3,000-per-employee fine for not offering to subsidize workers' health insurance, Business Insider said. Managers who allow part-time workers to put in more than 25 hours a week will be fired, according to Business Insider.

Soaking the rich has blowback in Connecticut

Stephen Singer filed one of the most enterprising stories in the history of the Associated Press: "Connecticut to super-rich residents: Please don't leave us."

The story shows just how beholden the state of Connecticut is to 100 people whose state income taxes keep the state government afloat.

Kevin Sullivan, the state's commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services. told the AP: "There are probably a handful of people, five to seven people, who if they just picked up and went, you would see that in the revenue stream."

Bobby Jindal: “You mean I’m not white? I’m shocked at this revelation”

Hold the coronation of Governor Scott Walker (that's Mr. Scott, to you, New York Times). Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana is still in the house, and he's got plenty of game.

There was last week's response to President Obama rationalizing the burning of a pilot alive because Christianity isn't perfect.

Said Governor Jindal: “It was nice of the President to give us a history lesson at the Prayer breakfast. Today, however, the issue right in front of his nose, in the here and now, is the terrorism of Radical Islam, the assassination of journalists, the beheading and burning alive of captives. We will be happy to keep an eye out for runaway Christians, but it would be nice if he would face the reality of the situation today. The Medieval Christian threat is under control, Mr. President. Please deal with the Radical Islamic threat today.”

Global warming now looks as real as vaccination's connection to autism

Christopher Booker of the Telegraph in London and others are doing yeoman's work in exposing outright fraud by the climatologists who are pushing the global warming hysteria in a mad dash to socialism. He double checked the temperatures they are using, and discovered they lie.

This reminds me of the fraud by Dr. Andrew Wakefield who in 1998 published a paper in the Lancet that connected MMR vaccines to autism. This was a lie. There is no such connection. Yet liberals -- including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama -- jumped aboard the anti-vaccination bandwagon, just as they ride the global warming bandwagon. The Lancet did not fully retract the article until 2010.

Some liberals still swear there is a connection.

Trayvon Martin's father takes on black violence

Half the victims of murder in the United States are black.

Obama on rape: "It’s not OK, and it has to stop"

President Obama has a message for America abut rape:
"It’s not OK, and it has to stop."
