If that implies chivalry on my part, so what?
The background is quite simple. Rosie O'Donnell took her family fishing. They caught a hammerhead shark and they were happy. This happened 11 days before a ban on fishing this particular subspecies of hammerhead sharks took effect.
David Shiffman, "a Ph.D. student at the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy at the University of Miami. He writes for Southern Fried Science" went after Rosie in an article in Slate:
After controversial anti-vaccine activist Jenny McCarthy was let go from The View, the producers were presumably looking for someone with less of a history of being on the wrong side of public policy. In Rosie O’Donnell, they made an awful choice. O’Donnell killed an endangered hammerhead shark for fun, bragged about the experience, and insulted conservationists who were upset at her actions. O’Donnell has been a frequent customer of “Mark the Shark,” an infamous shark hunter — that is, one of the few charter boat operators in Florida who doesn’t practice catch and release when fishing for sharks. He claims to have personally killed more than 100,000 sharks. Mark the Shark’s website, which features a photo gallery of scantily clad women lying on top of dead fish, includes warnings like “photos on this site may not be suitable for children, the faint-hearted, or PETA members,” and “We DON’T fly release flags, but we DO hang fish upside down.” I met him once, and the picture you’ve probably formed in your head from reading the description above is pretty accurate.Et cetera, et cetera.
On one trip, O’Donnell and her family caught and killed a great hammerhead shark and then posed for a picture next to their “trophy.”After controversial anti-vaccine activist Jenny McCarthy was let go from The View, the producers were presumably looking for someone with less of a history of being on the wrong side of public policy. In Rosie O’Donnell, they made an awful choice. O’Donnell killed an endangered hammerhead shark for fun, bragged about the experience, and insulted conservationists who were upset at her actions.
When this story broke in January of 2012, I joined many in the marine science and conservation Twitter community in criticizing O’Donnell and asking for an apology and a promise never to kill an endangered animal for fun again. She mocked our concerns, insulted us, and refused to apologize. She made nonsensical claims such as “chill, my family fishes,” and “it wasn’t endangered 11 days ago.” As I explained to her at the time, I am not opposed to recreational fishing; I’m opposed to killing endangered species for fun.
I came across this on Twitter, here he sought re-tweets. Instapundit obliged. I saw it and I responded.
@DeanAbbott @instapundit @WhySharksMatter Good for @Rosie for refusing to be bullied. The shoot was legal @Slate uses it for click bait

@DeanAbbott @instapundit @WhySharksMatter @Rosie @Slate And heaven forbid a TV show has anyone who is ON THE WRONG SIDE OF PUBLIC OPINION

Well, David Shiffman got angry and told me off and Blocked me. Apparently he thinks online communication is a one-way street. There is nothing noble in defending Rosie. It's a matter of personal safety and survival.
I stood up for Rosie because this is another baldfaced attempt to silence people into submission and abeyance of whatever is the popular liberal whim of the day. Nothing will stop them. They have no decency. Step out of line and they will ruin you. We thought it was rhetoric until they went after Brenden Eich and cost him his job as CEO of Mozilla for a donation to Prop 8 -- which passed in the liberal land of Oz we call California.
David Shiffman wants to cost Rosie O'Donnell her job and the millions that go with it. Perhaps more. He tweeted the above picture. Slate used one with Rosie alone and not her minor children.
More important, he wants to intimidate anyone who follows her footsteps.
She did something legal.
It's now illegal.
You won.
Get off her case.
Let liberals be warned. No one is safe from these Borgs and their Borgian ways. Read up on the French Revolution. They are not using Guillotines. They dont have to. They are happy just to ruin a few people to intimidate the weak. Eich's CEOship is a head on a pike for them.
Stand up now, while we still can.

Don,
ReplyDeleteYou need a quick edit to remove redundant paragraphs.
As for Rosie "first time in history that fire has ever melted steel" O'Donut - Its difficult for me to generate much sympathy.
Thanks. That was on the original. Looked strange. I cannot overlook her trutherism -- nor her fake Queen Of Nice B.S.
ReplyDeleteStill, I hate this trend of railroading people
In 15 Pictures, Women Tell Us Exactly Why They are Pushing Back Against The Feminist Movement

ps. Link Exchange??
I support your position--I wish you had a more likeable victim.
ReplyDeleteRight is right and wrong is wrong. And never the twain, etc.
Will David Shiffman "Ahab" Rosie O'Donnell into a media/conservation thinking submission?
ReplyDelete"SLATE Magazine, I set ye a task. Take these media harpoons and two year old images of Rosie with a dead shark. Melt them down. Forge me new weapons that will strike deep and hold fast. But do not douse them in water; they must have a proper baptism. What say ye, all ye men and women of Conservation? Will you give as much blood as shall be needed to temper the steel?"
Nope. She's the enemy of you and all that you hold dear. I don't suggest you let her get up from the ground if you have her down. You don't fight fair against the bad guys unless you like loosing. See the last 8 years or more.
ReplyDeleteMy $.02
Bravo, Don.
ReplyDeleteAs the grandfather of one of the finest SCOTUS Justices of all time said, "Right is right, and wrong is wrong...even if it was over a penny."
Or, in this case, even if it involves a woman who, I'll bet, would never think to return the favor.
We either put an end to the statist soft guillotining....or we surrender permanently to tyranny.
The problem is … she will be the first one to push the next politically/socially correct moment without hesitation. She is one of the original Madame Defarge's of this movement.
ReplyDeleteI am far from a PETA nut. I hunt. I fish. I own animals. I own guns. I wanted to make that clear before I said this.
ReplyDeleteI agree, for the most part, with Shiffman. What Ofatness did is reprehensible. And her using that POS charter tard shows how much of a lowlife she is. The reproductive cycles of sharks is not well known. What is known is that they are NOT like rabbits. They are easily over fished and pressured. Hence the reason for this sub species being put on the protected list. She went trophy fishing for an endangered species and killed one. Yes, it had not been placed on the list yet. Technicality and you all know that.
She deserves to be strung up more than that shark did. And with any luck, that charter driver will fall over board while chumming and get rip to shreds.
Having said all that, I said I agreed FOR THE MOST PART. While my loathing for this piece of human offal should be obvious, her actions WERE legal. With any luck, karma will bite her in her cellulite ridden hind parts, and she will pay. BUT, it should have zero bearing on her job. And Shiffman, for trying to use this to go after her job, should be taken out by karma as well.
Tiger shark babies are known to eat their siblings in the womb before being born. They must be liberal too.
